I am trying to import some photoshop files into FC while keeping their set sizing properties. When imported the PSD file becomes it’s own sequence. When I pull a text layer from that sequence I lose the sizing and placement properties.

Do I have I to import EACH layer as it’s own? I hope not because this project has a ton of files with lots of text layers.

    Thank you!

It’s been awhile since I’ve worked with .PSD files in FCP, but I believe this will solve your problem.

After pasting the layer you want into your FCP timeline, right click Remove Attributes and select distort. Theoretically it should look as you made it, assuming you have the right dimensions and pixel aspect ratio.

The way I work is to generate a .TIFF file with an Alpha Channel for each individual graphic. It sounds like alot of work, but as long as the look of the graphics are locked down, this usually saves time in the long run.

    Hi Nicole,

I tried your advice about removing attributes but I still get the same problem.

Does it matter that these are text layers? It seems graphics layers work just fine but text layers lose their properties (size and placement).

    I must be missing something.

    Thank you!
