importing sequential TGA files
Hi, I’m trying to import a series of Targa files (an animation) into Final Cut Pro 4.5. They were created from 3d Studio Max. I’m more familiar with Avid than FCP (both great tools), have checked out a manual I have, but still coming up empty. I thought it might be as easy as clicking on import, selecting sequential files…but no go. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Open the Image Sequence in QuickTime Pro and use the Export function to get a QT movie with the settings you need for your project. Less render time in FCP that way.

Yea, I thought that as well when I was naive FCP user.
Seems you need a workaround. Open your tga sequence in QTpro and export a high quality (animation or uncompressed codec) QT mov – make sure you use ‘millions of colours+’ to keep your alpha then use that in FCP. Lame eh?
At least there’s no level change between your ani_0000.tga and the resulting mov.
I’m only using FCP5.0 so they may have improved this.
