Importing Quicktime into FCP
I am trying to import a quicktime file into FCP. The file plays perfect when opened in quicktime, but when I import it into FCP and play it in the viewer and sequence, it goes out of sync eventually and one person’s lower third is flashing on and off, jump cuts, etc.
I have downloaded the original file multiple times from my source and still encounter the same issues. Any thoughts?

Unless you tells us the specs. of that clip we’ll just be guessing.
You can read the codec information in the FCP browser or in Quicktime Player Inspector.

The file is an H.264 quicktime movie. What other information do you need to help? Thanks.

Just because it is a QT movie, doesn’t mean that FCP will edit it. Yes, FCP uses Qt to capture footage to, but it is just a container, and there are dozens of codecs that FCP does not work with.

h.264 is not an editing codec in FCP. If you search you will see that discussed every day here. Use Compressor or the free MPEG Streamclip app to transcode to a editing Quicktime codec such as DV, DVCPro, ProRes, etc.
