Importing psd files
Posted by Lee115 on January 23, 2006 at 2:55 amI thought i’d done this before but can’t seem to get it to work now. How do you import a psd file with 20 layers so that you can drop all those layers in your composition and they will be arranged correctly, so that you dont need to reposition every layer back to like it was in photoshop.

January 23, 2006 at 3:27 amUse the Import as “Composition” not “Composition-Cropped Layers” function. This will create each layer at the frame aspect ratio of your Photoshop document. You won’t need to drop them into another comp this way either, because this creates a new comp containing all of the Photoshop layers.

January 23, 2006 at 3:35 amI understand this, but when I did it this way it gave me a composition with all the layers merged so i couldn’t animate them seperatly.

January 23, 2006 at 3:37 amIt shouldn’t be merging the layers. Have you tried deleting your preferences or restarting? What happens if you bring it in as “Composition-cropped layers”? Does it still merge the layers?

January 23, 2006 at 8:42 pmTried it again and it worked fine, I was creating a composition and then trying to bring the imported one into it instead of just importing as comp then resizing it. If that makes sense.
Thanks for your help.Josh.
