Importing projects from Premiere Elements
Hi!
I have a client that uses Premiere Elements (latest version) on his Mac. Is it possible to export projects, timelines or edls from Elements into Premiere CS5?
He wants to do some “offline” work before we starts the editing on the bigger system.

Just make sure he doesn’t use any of the “built in” proc amp effects and that sort of thing…
PPro seems unable to turn them off or alter them in some cases.
I’ve had some of these projects end up with some annoying hangups once I need to try to do my own effects/cc on them in PPro, not to mention the project can seem unstable in my experience.
But yes, technically the manual says you can import Premiere Elements projects…

Hi!
Hopefully will he only do some simple edits and some housekeeping on his footage in separate bins. He works on a MAC with a removable drive. Will i have problems when i connect his drive to my PC workstation?

You’ll want to get a piece of software called “MacDrive” to enable your PC to read it…and make sure the drive can be connected by means other than FireWire 800.
…and in my experience the LaCie “ruggedized” portable drives with the orange bumpers are just plain bad news for cross platform work, so if he has one of those, I would require that the data be transferred to something else.
