Importing problem.

Hey, I need some help, This first time Im having a problem with AE and dont know what to do.. hope the best community in world can help! xD

I have a movie in avi format that I imported to a editing software.. and I cut out some scenes and rendered them one at a time into seperate .wma 720 hd files.. because there was no option to make avi.

When I import them to AE now it says //interpret footage// the item has an unlabeled alpha channel.

And it gets imported but I cant work with it.. when i select it it says //AFTER EFFECTS ERROR 4// reading frame from file//

im using after effects CS5.5
I tried converting the wma file to avi and i could import the video into after effects now but its just a black screen video without any sound.

Need much more info: What editing software? What AVI file? Frame size, screen size & fps and so on.
What export options you have from that software?
Why into wma?

Try to be more specific about all the tech specs.

frame width> 464
frame height> 256
frame rate> 25 per sec

Not sure how to find more info about the avi file.
and the video editing software I used was COREL VIDEOSTUDIO PRO X4.

I dont know why I cant render into avi but i can do to>
MPEG>DV>HDV>DVD>AVCHD>BLURAY>WMV>FLV>CUSTOM
when i do custom it will be a MPEG.

Please, Im really at worlds end of what to do..
If no one knows what the problem is.. Id be grateful for anything you think I should do.

I really, really need this..
I just cant think of anything at all to do.

You have to try to be more specific: Why you first put it into the editing software?
Why not immediately into AE (because I am not sure what you are editing on is a pro software).
Why exporting it into several bits? And why into wma?
People here want to help, but you need to be more specific.
Explain each step – precies – and try to give all tech specs available to you.

Render it as an MPEG or some of the other options. Why the odd frame size?
