  • Importing Pro Res 422 with 24bit Audio – FAIL

    Has anyone else tried this?

I’ve got a load of captured Pro Res files that I grabbed from my HDV camera with Matrox Vetura and the Matrox MXO2 Mini with Max box.

Now, these are standard Pro Res files and they should just work, yes?

Well they don’t work. FCPX doesn’t want to conform the files but seems to accept that they are valid yet shows a blank screen and actually plays the audio. Just no picture!

I’ve taken a sample and run it through the new compressor, converting the audio into 16bit and it was successful and FCPX sees the file perfectly.

What a pain in the tonsils.

    So

About 5 minutes after I posted this I tried again on a different machine – this time, one that already had FCP 7. I installed FCP X on it, dragged the clip into FCPX and it worked.

There’s obviously something wrong here but maybe there are additional codecs with FCP 7 or something.

    Anyway it works : )

Did you run software update on the orig computer to get the codec pack?

    I did indeed.

I downloaded and installed the updates straight after FCPX
