I apologize if there is a thread or tutorial dedicated to this, but it was something i wanted to ask before i head off to work:

what is the best way to import a Photoshop object with all layers intact so i can animate them? i tried a few times but when i did so, i couldn’t animate the layers individually. It all came in as one file. i am sure, as newbie, i am simply missing a step…

    thank you guys!

    hi Devon,

You have to import the psd file as a composition or composition cropped layers. once imported you’ll have a new composition and a folder with the name of the composition containing the layers. just double click the newly created composition to see all the layers in the timeline.

    hope this help.

You want to import your PSD as a composition. I usually recommend using “Composition (Cropped Layers)” unless there is a good reason not to.

Thank you both! That was it – I was not selecting cropped layers. Only an error a newbie can make! Lol – thanks!
