    Hi, all,

Whenever I create text in Photoshop which has a very soft drop shadow and import it into Avid Express or Adrenaline, it always has a fine white halo around the outer edge. I’ve tried changing the i/o and format settings on both programs, to no avail.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanx!

    Tom

Save your graphic as a .png. That should get you going…

    Tom,

The .png suggestion is good and I use it myself all the time, but the reason you are having a problem is that you must first merge the layer effects and rasterize the text in order for Avid to correctly recognize the transparency values. In Photoshop, create a blank layer above the layer with the text/shadow. Link the text layer with the blank layer and select “merge linked”. This will flatten/merge just that layer. If you have a multi-layered graphic, you can import this as a sequence, where the individual layers can be further manipulated with effects in Avid.

    Sincerely,
    Oliver

    Another solution:

Take the title layer with the drop shadow and merge it down with a blank layer. This will remove the little ‘f’ icon on the title layer but preserve the shadow. Then add a new layer below the title and fill it with black. Import it and you should have a nice black shadow…
