Importing P2 files into FCP

What version of FCP are you using? The current version uses a log and transfer window to ingest P2 media.

Hey Tom–thanks for the reply.

I have FCP 6.0 that came with a fresh box of FCStudio2.

If what you say is so (and I’m sure it is), I guess I need to read the log and transfer section a little better. And I’ll watch Shane’s tutorial again.

In Shane’s tutorial, I thought he just created a fresh bin in the browser, then designated it as “the login bin,” then used the import command. When he used the import command, a Panasonic P2 option of some kind was “on the list.” At least that’s what I thought. I’ll look again.

I am accustomed to ProTools and Photoshop menus, and the Panasonic item in the import menu sure looked like a plug-in to me.

Any tips to get me going in the right direction would be appreciated.

As Tom mentioned. FCP Studio 6 change the import of P2. So Shane’s tutorial is great and correct *expect* you now use the “Log and Transfer” under the file menu-instead of the P2 transfer.
