* Importing OMF’s into Final Cut Pro*
Hi.
I would just like to know is there anyway to import OMF files into Final Cut Pro ?
The reason why I ask is because I work closely with Sound Designers and I like to have an OMF file in FCP is to see all their tracks and clips on the tracks if I need to change something. For example if you have a wave file and at a certain place and there is a song that doesn’t fit the visuals then I’m quite limited with the 2 track wave file cause there is dialogue, foleys, sound fx and music. There is no way that you can remove one of those clips with a wave but with an OMF you can.
I’ve heard that Adobe Premiere can import OMF’s.
I also founded out there is software “Automatic Duck’s Pro Import FCP 2.0” which allows you to import OMF’s in Final Cut Pro, but the price for that is $ 495.
Isn’t there anyway can import OMF’s for free in FCP, or if Final Cut Pro 8 is released will this include the option of importing OMF’s ?

You will need Automatic Duck to import ProTools OMF into FCP. Works great. FCP will not do this natively.
As far as new features of FCP 8, nothing has been made publicly available, so it’s a crapshoot on feature sets.

I think you can import an OMF into Sound Track Pro. You do realise that you can’t import mix automation, bussing and routing and proper crossfades into FCP with Automatic Duck and Premiere Pro.
