What is the work flow when importing MPEG 4 into FCP?

I have a bunch of Mpeg 4 files (720×400 – audio 44hz) that I need to import into FCP as Prores.

How do I do this the best way? Can I use Compressor? is Mpeg-streamclip better?

Are there any ‘best’ setting presets I should know of?

    Thanx

The correct workflow is to convert the MPEG 4 to ProRes before importing into FCP. You can use Compressor or MPEG Streamclip. Each will give you equal results.

I don’t know with which camera this is shot, it is shot in the UK, my client sent me the files (and when clicking on the info, the size is what it is…)

When I transcode the files to Prores (that should match my sequence settings) , I keep getting a red bar on top, and need to render.
Why do I have to render at all, when I have trancoded into PRores?

Probably because of the odd frame size.

    Hi,
Can’t find Pro Res 422 in my Mpeg Streamclip. Doing it in compressor. Am I missing something in Streamclip?
