Getting the error ‘unsupported format or damaged file’ when trying to import MP4 video files filmed on a sony EX1 into Premiere CC Pro 2014.
I have been able import and edit the exact same files into Premiere Pro CC on another laptop, so I know that it is possible to get these files to work without having to convert the files to .mov, but can’t figure out what is installed on the old macbook pro that isn’t installed on the new one!

Have tried installing all the plug-ins for sony XDcams available on their websites, along with more codecs for FCP, but so far nothing is working!

Has anyone been able to solve this?

    Thanks

Are you running Yosemite? There’s a very similar thread at FCP X Techniques. If you are running Yosemite, try it in an earlier OS version, just for grins.
