Is there a way to get vegas pro 9e to inform you as to why it is refusing to decode the video stream?

i would like to inverse telecine an FP24 video file created by a canon vixia hfs100 camcorder.

It seems like that, from initial testing, that MENCODER can remove the 2:3 coding without shifting the encoded cadence.

But when I try to recreate the video file, vegas appears to reject the video. Am I missing something important to recreating the AVCHD/h264 file that can be read by vegas pro?

win 7/ media player appears somewhat capable at playing this file.

Vegas Pro expects AVCHD to be in an MPEG2 Transport Stream (MTS) wrapper. It is not expecting it in an AVI file and my guess is that the AVI decoder doesn’t know what to do with it.
