I open a new project then ask to import an mp4 media piece. Pick the mp4. NOTHING. If I drag and drop it works,. but not via menu.

Add to this that my attempts to export and import audio and edit it are also failing……WTF?

    Is this thing dead?

When you import media, it places the media in the Project Media pool. You still have to physically drag and drop it from the project media onto the timeline. Is this what’s confusing you?

Thanks John. Yeah that was it. I guess drag and drop is the faster way to do this.

Yea, it depends on your workflow. Some people like to import all of the media, then go through the media marking in and out points with the trimmer and making sub-clips that are organized into bins and then using those to populate the timeline. Other people like to just drop directly onto the timeline, trim, and the drop the next clip. It’s really up to how much organizing you need to do first like with a documentary, vs. just getting in and editing a live event which might be easier to just trim on the timeline.
