    Hey everyone,

I was given some footage to digitize, but it was recorded in LP mode. I’ve heard that when transferring LP footage you should use the same camera that you recorded on. However, the camera initially used is no longer available. I have a Sony FX1000, and the 2 DV tapes given to me are Panasonic.

I’ll be importing to FCP 6 using my Sony FX1000

What are the necessary steps that someone suggests that I should take?

I wanted to import a bit of footage before to see if anything went wrong, but I’m scared to mess up the tape, and thought I should ask around first.

Check the audio sample rate. LP mode may be 12 bit 32 khz. If so, you might want to convert the files after capture to 16bit 48khz audio using Compressor, although you will need to use a 32khz setting to capture via firewire.
