Importing Logic Bounces to FCP 4.5
Cowsters-
A question. I am cutting a live show right now. I have sound sources direct from the board, a stereo room mike setup, and 3 cameras. Which adds up to 4 stereo pairs and one mono signal. I am making the board mix the tonal center and mixing frequencies based on it. I have mastered the board and the stereo room in Logic @ 24-bit resolution (down from Nuendo 32-bit). It sounds wicked. There is shimmer and air and everyone is articulated.
The problem is- when I import the bounces to FCP, the sound quality goes down the tubes. The tracks are clipped, there is no air, the highs darken..it’s like everything was compressed with high gain.
So I ask, humbly, whether there are any setttings I’ve missed- aside from the gain and pan, I assume that the bounces enter FCP unmodified. Do other people notice a lack of “tranparency” in their bounces? I have experimented with importing tracks that were bounced at really low levels, and the sound is just as clipped, but at a lower gain (if that makes sense).
As far as I know, hardware is not an issue because the signal, once inside my rig, stays digital.
It would make me so happy to resolve this. Thanks in advance to all of you experienced persons.
