I should know this but how do I take a sequence of still jpg images from my Gopro (timelapse) and import them into Vegas.

I thought it was “import”, “media”, then navigate to the folder with my images, then click the “open still image sequence” but the “open still image sequence” is greyed out.

    Thanks
    Roger

You have to click the first image in the sequence before you click the button.
BTW, I found out the hard way that when GoPro creates more than one folder of stills, all images in all new folders have the exact same number sequence as the first folder did 🙁
My workaround (I was under pressure to get it done and out the door) was to treat each folder as a separate image sequence.
If I had more time, I would’ve used IrfanView to renumber all the images properly.

    Thanks Mike,
I think I’ve also found out that the file names can’t have characters such as “photo(1).jpg

    You’re welcome Roger.
Your comment makes sense and is why I always try to keep things simple.
My filename is usually a very brief name followed by the required number of digits (e.g. title-001.png).

You might want to try Bulk Rename Utility. It installs as a Windows Explorer extension so you can right-click on any folder and select Bulk Rename Here and rename all of the files in that folder including numeric suffixes, prefixes, etc.

The interface is extremely confusing because it does so much, but just follow this cheat sheet and you should be fine:

I once had the pleasure of importing about 10,000 images for a time lapse sequence and found that Vegas started to choke and editing become very, very sluggish. I simply rendered out what I had on the time line and then brought that back into Vegas as a single event. I then was able to shorten/extend the duration using the usual CTRL-drag / velocity envelope methods.

What parameters do you suggest for a timelapse of a landscape/cloud type series of shots. A frame every 1/2 sec., 1 sec, etc.

Roger, If I remember correctly, you have my TimeWarp plug-in. Just use that and it will take all of the guesswork out of it. Tell it how long you want the sequence top be and it will figure everything else out for you.

Sorry, can’t help you out there. I was given the images taken over a period of 7 days of a stage crew ‘bumping in’ to a theatre. I think he used a video camera hooked up to a memory recorder, and used the built in intervalometer.
