  importing jpegs/sequence settings

  i have huge number of jpegs ( a time lapse sequence ) to import and i am just trying to get the settings right. for my test, in PS i changed the pixel aspect ratio to DV and sized the image to 720 X 480. importing those into an FCP sequence with those dimensions and Photo JPEG as the compressor it wants me to render. i have tried pretty well every variation on the theme, each time adjusting the sequence settings to match but i cant escape the dreaded red bar and rendering should not be necessary.

  720 X 480 pixels DV and then square
  640 X 480 pixels DV and then square

  oddly enough, when i start with “Multimedia Large 4:3” preset from FCP
  it doesnt need to render and even more strange, the image appears in the sequence to be correctly sized.

  what is going on here ?
