Posted by Taosdreaming on January 19, 2007 at 6:56 pmI am trying to import graphics into avid- are jpegs the best format to import them in or is there a better way?

January 19, 2007 at 7:59 pmI use .png files. They’re small, lossless, and if you put them over a tranparent background it’s interpreted as an alpha. Makes working in photoshop a lot faster. Just be sure to choose Invert Exisiting Alpha on your import options.
Jpegs are ok, but I’ve had better results with targa (.tga) and png files.

January 20, 2007 at 10:19 pmanother great thing about png files is they retain phoshop bevels and drop shadows where psd files don’t.
Also, your soft shadows stay the color you create then with png files where psd files blend in a white back ground in soft edges.
I do use jpegs sometimes but only the ones clients bring in. Often I have to doctor em up anyway so I just spit em out as png files.
