    hey guys,

to all of you this will most likely be a very newbie question, anyways i am planning on buying a ex1r when i can get my hands on one and am very new to solid state and the many workflows that come with it. i was wondering how to import footage from the ex1r into fcs3, if someone could briefly explain the steps or point me towards an article or previous thread i would be eternally grateful!

    Cheers

You will need to use Sony’s Clip Browser to import the files, then Final Cut’s XDCAM Transfer to get them into a usable format. Then you can just drag them into FCS browser window and work with them. I have just used the XDCAM Transfer program to download the cards directly to the file I wanted but everyone says this is a bad idea as it does not do error correction which the Clip Browser program does. It is an easy process and, as I have an EX-3 I highly recommend the -1 or -3. Good luck.

yeah ill have to grab that, are they both sorta the same thing or is each dvd about different thing to do with the ex1/ex1r? i was also reading some things about final cut pro 7 https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/finalcutpro/broad-format-support.html
and it said that you can now use the log and transfer tool to import xdcam ex clips, are there any pros or cons doing it this way over the sony plugin?
