I am importing VHS analog from my Panasonic tape deck, passing it through my Sony DCR-HC96 camcorder into DV and then on into FCP 6 on my 20″ I-Mac. All goes well and the application states my “VTR” is okay until I hit the capture button. Then I get a message that the program is “waiting for the timecode”. If I first capture the VHS into DV onto tape in the Sony camcorder and then send it to FCP in the I-Mac it works fine. I would like to eliminate that step. I know this is probably a simple thing, but I appreciate your help! Thanks, Bruce

Have you set “No controllable device”?
If you are unable to capture with FC, you may try with the QT’s “Video Recorder”.
I think can be less exigent regarding TC.
