importing illustrator files
just a quick newbie question… my illustrator logo is coming in with multiple paths to Cinema. i’ve saved it as a compound path in AI and tried to group the paths, then extrude them but i’m not having any luck. Please help…

Or if you are using R10, select them and go to object>connect objects, then delete the old splines…

i am using 10 and the connect does work thanks! is there a way to import AI files into an open project. whenever i try to open the file it opens a new project…

There is a way but I can’t recall it right now. Just copy the spline from the new project into your existing one, that’s really all of it.

To bring an AI file (or another C4D file) into an existing scene, use File/Merge.
Also regarding your original question, an AI file (saved as version 8), with compound paths should extrude correctly without connectying all splines if you check the “Hierarchy” box in the extrude options window.

I’ve been trying to import an illustrator file to cinema 4D, and nothing seams to work. Ive going under file > merge > and then loading the ai file and nothing comes up. I’ve also tryed loading a eps file and that didn’t work either. Please if anybody can help…

hello to all!!
im trying to import a simple letter saved as a.i file from illustrator into 4dcimena to check out the program,but nothing is appearing when i clik open>import then i try open>merge incase it pops in the screen but nothing!!!
