A client of mine has given me footage that is apparently HDV 1080i60.
Unfortunately when I open these files in QT I get a black screen but can hear the audio. This leads me to believe I’m missing a codec and since I don’t have FCP (which comes with HDV codec) I can’t view. However in using Premiere I notice there is a seq for HDV 1080i60. When I try to import these clips into premiere I can’t because the files are greyed out. How can I open or import these files to view the video and then be able to open them in AE CS4?

Try to get the mainconcept mpeg2 codec, it usually comes with premiere pro, but maybe its missing.

The sure solution,(but you lose footage quality) is to reconvert the footage to a similar hdv setting with episode pro or compressor.
