I shot a film on the Panasonic HVX200 with a Firestore at 720p24 (i.e. there is no tape and the Firestore resets the timecode for every shot). It was edited in Final Cut Pro. I will be doing my color correcting on an Avid Symphony. Does anyone know the best workflow for exporting my sequence and EDL from FCP into files that the Avid will understand?

    – My idea was to use the FCP Media Manager to export a copy of the project referencing only the used media with handles. Then, from the project, export an EDL that references the copied files.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Automatic Duck ( https://www.automaticduck.com/) are a very good tool to help you whit converting FCP to AVID or the other way. The EDL way is no fun.

I’ve spoken with AutoDuck. Their product is better if you digitized from tape. Since I recorded P2, I have the raw MXF files prior to their FCP conversion to quicktimes, and I have the quicktimes that I edited with.

I’m going to try to bring the MXF into Avid and use an FCP EDL to reconnect to them. I doubt it will work, but from what I’ve heard, no one has tried that yet.

You should have cut in Avid if you were going to finish on it.
