    Hi there, I am using FCP 7.0.3. I have a HVX200 and a Firestore FS-100.

I set my camera to shot 1080i/24p. The firestore is set to record the clips as QT. When I import the clips, FCP says that the “Vid Rate” is 29.97. Is that how it is supposed to be?

When I import the same clips into Premiere CS5, they show up as 23.97.

    Any ideas? Thanks

Well…. for starters there’s not such thing as 1080i24p video… what did you REALLY shoot? There is 24 fps video spread over 29.97 however, and that’s probably what you’ve shot. You can remove the pulldown and make it a true 24 fps file, however it won’t look any different, because there really is only 24 individual frames in the current 29.97 fps file… there are redundant fields in the file and they can be removed, or not… look will be the same in the end…

    sorry, i meant 1080i/24f

a problem that i am now encountering is that the clips are “choppy” in the fcp browser. the source file plays smoothly, and it plays smoothly premiere as well.

fcp set up as dvcpro hd 1080. when i drag the clip to the timeline, fcp automatically adjusts the timeline to match the clip.

mac pro intel quad core @ 2.67
    16 gig ram
source files are captured on separate HD

I don’t believe you have a problem… it could well be 24fps over 29.97. That would be pretty normal.
