Importing Final Cut files into Avid Xpress Pro 5.1.5
I need to import several Quicktime clips from a Final Cut project into my Avid Xpress Pro project that is running on a PC ( HP DX 7500 2.8 dual Intel processor, 4 gig ram).The media is on a mac formatted drive and I have access to a Mac Book Pro and can see the files no problem on that machine. How can I convert them to Avid files? Is there an Avid codec I need or a quick and easy way to get these files into my project? Thanks!

You’ll need to import all the Quicktime files into your Avid, which will take awhile depending on the codec your files are in. If they’re Avid codecs you’ll have a fast import, but I assume they’re not.
First, find out what codec these files are in. A lot of FCP Quicktime codecs are proprietary to FCP, so if you don’t have FCP installed (and if you have a PC, you won’t) you’ll need to convert them. If you do have to convert them, download the Avid codecs to the FCP system and convert them to the corresponding Avid codec (for example, DVCProHD converts to Avid DV100, DV50 to AvidDV and set it to DV50, etc…).
