  • Importing files into Vegas from Focus Enhancement FS-H200 Recorder

Posted by August Taconi on April 24, 2013 at 10:34 pm

Anyone using the Focus Enhancement FS-H200 Pro to record video from Canon XH A1 HDV M2T files. Long clips are divided into 2gb files. Vegas Pro 10 handles the video seamlessly, but the audio loses about .5 seconds at each break. Any suggestions to get the audio seamless also.

    Thanks,
    August

The recorder media is formatted as FAT-16 (a Linux standard), thus the 2Gb per segment limit. There should be a program that comes with the recorder that assembles the pieces into one video file.

Thanks for the response. This model uses FAT 32. No utility came with the product. The video file is from Canon XH A1 recorded as HDV M2T 1080i. Vegas accepts the files and plays the video seamlessly, however, it is the audio that drops at each break. The product rep. said to try TSSPLITTER. Never heard of it. Are you familiar with TSSPLITTER. The information says it’s for joining DVD TS files.

Could you be looking at the auto fade on audio events? The default is 10ms, but you are reporting 500ms.

    Steve,

It’s not the audio fade. The audio drop is about a half second. On the waveform it looks as though the audio drops right at the end of file, and starts up the the beginning of the next file leaving me with a momentary loss of audio. Do you or anyone else know if I need some utility to stitch those clips into one long file.

    Thanks again

I’ve never used that camera or the Focus recorder, so I am guessing here. You could try turning off Quantize to Frames, but that is at worst, 1/30 of a second in error.

    Steve,

Thanks for the effort to help. I’m just going to use a different camera to record main audio. That will alleviate the problem until I can find a solution.

Niveka, thanks for the information. I recently read about the alternate file format. I’ll soon give it a try.
