Importing Files from 3D program
Hello,
Another artist is working to create a 3D drawing in AutoCAD and I wanted to bring it in to use in a 2D logo in Illustrator or Photoshop, but would like to use it as vector lines instead of a placed image. He thinks he can give me an IGES file to work with. Is this possible. Any other suggestions?

I’m not familiar with IGES files, but a short bit of research online shows that they can be imported into Adobe Acrobat 3D:

(I couldn’t find any information on Illustrator’s support)
You could try Acrobat 3D preview version 8 from https://labs.adobe.com/technologies/acrobat3d_version8/ and perhaps it will import an IGES file that you can then export to something Illustrator will be more comfortable with? Or maybe Illustrator is capable of handling IGES files… Like I said, I’m not very familiar with the format!

Thanks for your reply. I have heard a .dmz file is a 2D AutoCAD file that can import into illustrator, but can one work with it as a vector file or is it a placed image?
