  • Importing DVX100 footage on Sony Deck

    Hi,

We shot 24p video on the DVX100, and we’re now importing using a Sony deck since our cameras were rentals. Does anyone know if we’ll still get the drop frame and look of 24p if we’re importing using a Sony deck? I know that if you import using the DVX100, it flags the timcode for the drop frame issue. Will the Sony do this?

    Thanks.

The recorded signal is still 29.97 NTSC, so it will work just fine. Think of it as a film transfer. Timecode will be drop- or non-drop as you set it.

First, it’s helpful to know the model number of the Sony deck your using.

I use the DSR-1500 to transfer my MiniDV tapes shot in the DVX at 24p and have had NO problem having the TC follow the video AND retaining the “film look”. The TC resides in the vertical interval which follows the full frame of video where ever you push it, as long as the deck you’re using reads VITC.

    Good Luck,

    Tim
