I’m trying to import some dvcpro hd 720 24P files into premiere pro CS3. I think they were digitized on a FCP system, so that may be the problem. Is it possible to import them into a pc-based PP CS3? Anyone know? And if not, can I import dvcpro hd footage shot on a Panasonic vericam from a deck through firewire into PP CS3?

As far as I know, Premiere only supports footage from P2 cards, not tape, ie, HVX 200, HVX 500 (MXF wrapping). I have yet to get to Varicam footage in Premiere, but I think you’ll still need the likes of Axio for capture (someone confirm). If the footage has gone through FCP, you might be out of luck. You will probably need access to that original Contents folder on the P2 card.

You can capture through firewire via OnLocation.

I thought the p2 MXF wrapping was still coming out, so it’s a bit confusing what, exactly, CS3 is cuurently supposed to be suporting. I tried ProCoder, and it only sees the footage as white frames. But the Vericam is a solid studio camera, so I’m surprized PP can’t support it.

The 3.1 update brought native MXF support to Premiere. It came out 2 weeks ago. Try getting that update first, and try that Varicam footage again. I think it should work if it is the original captured footage.

If they are quicktimes then you need to use Raylight Decoder (a DVCPROHD component for quicktime/windows). https://dvfilm.com/raylight/decoder
