  • Importing DNxHD into premier from AVID MC- Crushed blacks

Posted by Daniel Payne on February 18, 2009 at 8:11 pm

    Dear fellow Cow followers,

I was wondering if i could tap into the massive shared knowledge on here to aid my issue (if possible). I have a number of files that will be coming out of AVID media composer as DNxHD. However upon testing this workflow I created every possible output combination from the avid suite (e.g. 601 / RGB in both dialogue panels).

But when importing into Premier CS3 with the 1.10 DNxHD release (i ahve tried 1.8 as well) the blacks all appear crushed…

    Any help is massively appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Dan

Are you also crossing from Mac to PC or PC to Mac?

From PC to PC at the moment, I guess a workflow to fcp will be next 🙂

    QuickTime or AVI?

(I have no experience with PC-Based Avids so I don’t know)

    Hi Tim,

DNxHD codec sits in a Quicktime wrapper, i don’t know of any implementations in AVI.

    Hmmm…OK.

What happens if you export an Animation or PNG clip?

(I know that QT does have this gamma issue that I still don’t have my arms around, but that seems to keep rearing its head from time to time…)
