I have canon 5d that is firmware updated to have 1080 29.97fps. When start a new project in Avid I do not see where I have that fps choice of format. I have Media 5.0 mojo.

    Select “new project”
Format: 1080p/29/97 should be an option

That would be your best option.

    My version only shows 1080 23.976fps or 24, 25, 50 and 59.94. It does however have 702 29.97fps.

Sorry, must be a Mojo thing. My software (5.o) and hardware (5.5 Nitris) both show 29.97.

    I’m not sure, anyone else?

Thanks Ed. It must be that 4.0.5 just does not have the 1080 29.97fps option…but for the life of me I can’t seem to find a way to talk to a real peson at Avid to verify v4.0.5 doesn’t provide the 29.97…do people not want to talk to us for things like this at Avid? Just venting! Thanks for you assistance..it does help narrow down my question.

I’m guessing more likely it’s a confusions of Fields Per Second versus Frames Per Second. Most professional VTRs list 59.94 Fields Per Second. These two interlaced fields become one frame, which would create 29.97 frames per second.

I’m not saying this is definitely the issue, but it’s possible. I have a feeling the 5D only shoots progressive video and not interlaced, but have you tried importing the footage into a 1080i 59.94 project, or using AMA in a 1080i 59.94 project?
