  • Importing C4D render with alpha not showing the visible lights properly

I have rendered out a scene from Cinema 4d with a blank background and volumetric lights that bleed out past the solid objects. For some reason I can’t get the lights to show properly on the alpha channel.

When imported into Vegas Pro with pre-multiplied alpha everything works fine. When imported into AE either straight or pre-multiplied I get very harsh edges for where the objects are and just the faintest bit of the volumetric lights that go out past the object.

I did render out a atmosphere pass as well but it has the same issue of only the absolutely brightest part of the light showing in the alpha and the rest of the light where it fades out being almost completely cut off.

I have tried Shift Channel and Set Matte with various settings but can’t get the semi-transparent parts of the alpha to be as visible as they should be.

I’ve attached a picture of what I’m seeing in both programs with the same settings. Vegas has no issues with the alpha channel showing the lights but AE almost completely removes the lights from the alpha.

Any chance you can post one of the rendered files so we can see what you’re seeing?
