Hi, I was just wandering if there is a way to export back to FCP with an alpha channel?

I want to create a cloud transition effect using the cloud generator. It would be nice to be able to just place it on the FCP timeline whenever I want with the alpha channel info there.

All I seem to be able to do is export a flattened quicktime which I then re-import back to FCP.

I hope I am making sense, please ask if you need further clarification.

    Hope you guys can help.

I mean a black and White outline of the object that allows me to make blank areas transparent to reveal the video track below.

If you import the motion file directly into your Final Cut Pro timeline you maintain all of the Alpha Information. If you want to export a video I find this to be the easiest:

File, Export. Click on Options… Change compressor to Animation. Click on the Advanced button. Make sure it is set to Millions of Colors +. The plus is the alpha channel.
