Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Importing AVIs, One More Time

    Well, one regrets to say it, but even in this forum there seems to be no answer to this problem. I am unwilling to buy a codec when the ones that *should* work don’t, and nobody can explain why or suggest a test to determine why.

    However, there is a workaround that is pretty simple. Open the accursed file in Windows Movie Maker (a free accessory that is part of XP) and then save it as a DV AVI NTSC file. That saved file will import to Vegas in perfect shape.

    For what it’s worth, JetDev’s suggestion worked for my situation.

    I am using Sony Vegas 6 with clips from a Canon S50 camera. Initially (as described in this post), only audio worked although full video worked in Windows Media Player.

    After downloading and installing the free Morgan codec, Vegas instantly began to work.
