    Hi,

I’m used to a workflow using Avid media composer as my offline and final cut pro as my online edit software. Within a tape or a film environment this has worked out really great. I want to edit in Avid because I feel the most comfortable working with Avid. And I use FCP because it’s a cheap solution for handling high resolution files.

But now I’m stuck. In the near future I’m going to edit a project which I think is going to be shot on a Silicon image camera and on a red camera. And for a test I’ve already received some shots made by this Silicon camera. I asked for this because I don’t have any experience when it comes to an all file based workflow.

Anyway I made an ALE using Metacheater and imported that into the Avid. And then batch imported all the videofiles. I made a simple edit in the timeline and I exported it to an EDL but that didn’t work because the names of the clips aren’t named correctly. So I read on the internet that you can also use XML files. You can make these using “Filmscribe”. So I did that and indeed the names of the videofiles are named correctly. But when I want to import that XML into FCP it keeps asking for a translation file.

    So I have two questions.

Does anybody know how I can make an proper EDL with correct names using avid? (Not the right section I know I’m going to post it on the avid section as well)
How can I import a XML file into fcp made by Avid’s filmscribe?

That’s totally correct as not every XML is FCP XML.
Maybe you post the Filmscribe XML so others can have a look at it and give suggestions.
