Importing .AVI with no audio
Im trying to import AVIs for a stitched video. But they come in with no audio whatsoever. The file’s Audio bitrate is set to: 152kbps Format: MPEG Layer 3
The video comes in fine. But when I drag it into the timeline, the same spot where Audio is supposed to show up is just empty. I tried importing an MP3 file, which plays just fine.
Any thoughts?

Its better when you import avi-Files with interleaved PCM-Format (WAVE).

Scroll drown to the lowest audio track…the audio may be in a Mono track.

I am having the same problem. I have a HDD camcorder and I had to convert all 300 files to AVI (which took 10 hours!). Then once I had named them all I was ready to make a movie, but there was no sound in adobe premiere 2! They work normally in windows media player but there is no audio in adobe. I would be grateful if someone could tell me how to solve this problem because I want to make my holiday video.

I think it’s a video/audio codec issue. Codecs are truly a nightmare, if you install one it breaks five others. I’m having the same problem, video but no audio. So I uninstalled all my codecs. Then I get audio but no video. I install the single codec I need for my video, divx, then I get video but no audio again. Just great. I’ve also tried different codec packs with various bad results.
(Of course I tried saving with the audio working then importing video once that part is working but it will no longer read the working audio.)
So… if anyone works this out please post it.
