Importing audio from itunes
Hello Gurus,
I am a newbie and my footage is 48k, 16 bit. The track I’m trying to import from itunes is 44k, 32 bit. What’s the easiest way to match it without rendering. Thank you in advance.Phil

First, in iTunes, create an audio file with which FCP will be happy (48kHz, 16bit).
In iTunes, go to Preferences>Advanced>Importing.
From “Import Using” pulldown, select “AIFF Encoder.”
From “Setting’ pulldown, select “Custom…”
In the resulting “AIFF Encoder” box, select desired numbers (48.000 kHz; 16 bit) with the Sample Rate and Sample Size pulldown menus.
In iTunes’ Library list, select the track of interest. Under main menubar “Advanced” select
“Convert Selection to AIFF.” Watch the progress bar in the info window. When it’s done you’ll hear the xylophone (marimba/vibraphone?) and you will see a duplicate entry in the Name column. Use “get info” to make sure which one is the new AIFF. Either drag it to desktop or a folder or FCP browser, or select it and ctrl-click to “Reveal in Finder” and take it from there.
Of course, if the item in iTunes is a purchased (protected, m4p) track, iTunes will not allow the above process to proceed. -
