Importing and joining .mts files automatically into only one file. What output is better, MTS or M2TS?
Hi,
I am using a Sony A57 SLT camera to record video (1080p AVCHD).
What happens is that the whole video is recorded in several pieces of 2GB .MTS into the SD Card (because FAT32 system).
If I just load manually these split files in Vegas timeline to join them, the transition between each file has a slightly flow interruption (image and audio stop and then go ahead).
I used Vegas “Device Explorer” to import the files from SD card automatically. Surprise=> Vegas joined the split files in just one big file, and the flow interruption doesn’t happen anymore. Vegas output= .MTS
I also used Sony PlayMemories (came with the camera). Basically it did the same, joining the files in a big one. But now as a .M2TS output.
Both .MTS and .M2TS have the same size and behaviour.
Is there tecnical differences between them? Should I preffer one type insted the other?
Ps.: So far I just drop the files from my old camcorder into the Vegas time line and never there was a problem of flow transition between files (as now with the A57 cam). It sounded strange to me and was first time that I see this issue of join files into only one when importing…
Thanks,
Cadu
