    Hello.

This question probably has been answered, but I can’t find a post that walks me through the process enough. I want the best quality video for DVD and the web (to upload on vimeo). I am importing footage from my Sony FX1 into Adobe Premier. What settings should my project be? Should I encode the video when I am done? If so, what are ALL of the settings for DVD? website? I believe HD on Vimeo needs to be 1280×720. My file is about 3 minutes and needs to be a total of about 490MB.

    Thanks

don’t know about the export part, but HDVSplit was recommended by a friend to me, and it worked great for capturing from HD cameras. I would work in the resolution of your video, then scale for vimeo, so if your footage is in 1080p, make a 1080p project then make an addtl render at 720p for vimeo.

    1. Export to DVD:
    a. Export to DV AVI and let Encore transcode, or
    b. Use AME to trancode to MPEG2DVD

    2. Export for Vimeo as 1280×720 WMV @ 5000 Kbps or somewhere around that figure.

Don’t try to make it larger than around 120 MB for a 3 minute clip. No visual advantage and very long buffer times.

What should the specifications be for setting up the Premier project?

    Same as you recorded in.
