Importing an Illustrator file for use in AE
Hi guys, I recently worked on a piece of graffiti that I want to animate, I created multiple layers in Illustrator. Say I created a layer named T with all the detail in sub-layers. Once I import my file as a composition into AE, I can only move or affect the whole letter, not the pieces that were in sub layers, anyway to go around this?

you’ll just need to move the sub-layers to separate layers to allow after effects to manipulate then as layers.

Ok, I went ahead and fiddled around with my illustrator file until I was able to seperate each layer from its sub layers, I went up the the menu button on the layer palette at the top right with the layer I wanted to divide selected, then I chose the option “Release to Layers Sequence” and all my layers seperated and were easy to move around. Thanks.
