Importing an avid project with dnxhd-mxf into premiere pro cs6?

Has anyone found a solution to the generic error message?

I’m trying to move an Avid sequence to a Premiere project on another computer, so I can’t use Shane’s method exactly. Instead I used the copy media option in Avid, telling it to send the Avid media to the external drive I’m shuttling off to the other location. Other than that, the AAF settings Shane used match mine.
BUT when I try to import the AAF in Premiere and it asks me to link to the MXF, I get the generic error message. The audio transfers fine, and I can see my Avid sequence, just with the Media Offline red screen.

I’m working with Avid MC 7.0.4 and testing the AAF on Premiere Pro CS6.

I found a working Mac solution!! (If you are on PC, I’m afraid I can’t help).

What you need to do is install Apple Pro Formats 2.1 (found here https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1396?locale=en_US). This will add MXF support to Quicktime, giving you the ability to import Avid MXF files into Premiere (and presumably Final Cut, though I can’t speak to that).

If you do not have Final Cut, you will need to install Apple Pro Formats via the instructions found here: https://www.martin-thoburn.com/vj/install-apple-prores-codec-without-final-cut/

I ignored the Application Support components and only installed the Audio and Quicktime folders, and was able to get it up and running in about 5 minutes. Now I can successfully import Avid AAF sequence exports into Premiere. I have not been able to get an audio track working yet, but this should help the majority of you!
