    Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to import an ale into FCP. I am running FCP 5.1.1 and also have Automatic Duck Pro Import 2. No matter how I try to import an ALE it is greyed out. The automatic duck will take an omf from avid but doesn’t seem to take the ALE. A producer here would like to use his avid logging program that he has at home and this can only create an ALE. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rich

You could also import the ALE into Cinema Tools, then export a Final Cut Pro batch list from Cinema Tools, and bring that into Final Cut.

First create a new database, then use file — import — telecine log and select the ALE file.

You can also create a new Database in CT. Then, in FCP go to File > Import > Telecine Log. A dialog launches. Choose the database, and enter the kind of database you want. Then choose the actual ALE. All your clips will come into FCP ready for capture. The information is automatically related into the CT database.

Try it, it’s a new feature of FCP 5.1. 😉
