  • Importing a VCD file?

Posted by Burt Jones on February 9, 2009 at 2:21 am

How do I import a video CD into Vegas Plat 8.0 from a CD? I burned a Vegas Plat VCD a while back and no longer have the files on my HD. I would like to import/capture the CD back into Vegas from the CD to burn a DVD but it does not show up in the list when I select the drive. Would appreciate any help. Burt

I would try copying the video from the CD to your hard drive. I’ve never made video CDs but since they play in most DVD players I would bet the files would be VOB. If Vegas doesn’t see the VOB, re-name it .mpg and try. Danny Hays

On the VCD disc go to the “MPEGAV” Folder
    the vcd.mpg should have the name.extension “AVSEQ01.DAT”

copy the dat file(s) to your PC and rename them with the extension xxxxx.mpg

VCD disc players standard calls them dat so just rename them
the VCD bitrate is only 1150 so don’t expect your original source quality
