Importing a project into another – workflow advice
Hello All,
I have a big project looking for some advice on. Here the skinny:2 editors. 2 separate machines. No central server available, so two sets of source footage from the show. But IDENTICAL sets of source material.
We were hoping to be able to cut, and be able to pass off sequences back and forth to each other into each other’s project. Since we are working on identical sets of source material, we thought just update each other’s sequences in our projects as we go. This update would come in the form of importing each other’s sequences from our separate project files.
Problem: when I import my partners sequence into my project, it brings in new iterations of the footage associated with those sequences. It links to the material on my asset drive ok, but it’s it’s making a duplicate example of the footage in my bins. It doesn’t link up with my source material I already have in my bins. It creates new, identical copies in my bins. This will be disastrous and confusing in the long run to have copies and copies of the same source footage in my bins.
So my question is:
Is there a way to import another project file, and NOT have it make duplicate iterations of my source footage?Anyone who might know…..my absolute thanks.
