  • Importing a PNG sequence without Black Halo?

Posted by Matthew Stewart on January 26, 2011 at 5:00 pm

I’m importing a PNG sequence rendered from Maya. The sequence has transparency that is perfect when viewed in Photoshop.

The problem is when I import them into PI3 the images are given a very small black halo.

Is there a setting or a step I’m missing here?

I can E-mail screen caps if it would help to clarify.

    Thanks,

    Matt S.

Photoshop might be unpremultiplying the alpha channel to display it — pIllusion doesn’t do that. Does Maya have an option to output a “straight” (or unpremultiplied) alpha channel?

If not, you might be able to use Photoshop to “fix” the image by unpremultiplying the alpha channel, then saving (to a different filename to be safe). I don’t use Photoshop enough to know though.

    Alan.
