  • Importing a 3D psd into After Effects CS4 – step by step

    Hi,

I’ve looked at all the help files and videos and searched both forums here. I need a simple step by step guide to importing a basic one layer 3D psd file from Photoshop CS4 Extended into After Effects CS4.

I am saving a simple 1 layer 3D psd in Photoshop.

I import all the necessary files to AE, but the controller file (imports into a solid folder in AE) does not control the comp image (psd image) it behaves as a 2D file. The camera is not exporting with the .psd. So all that imports is the psd, controller and bg layer. No camera.

I am importing it as Photoshop Live 3D.
I am importing it as a Composition with Editable Layer Styles.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thanks,
    Cathy

    Figured it out.

I am not used to how this After Effects import works, it imported my 3D psd as a separate comp. When I double-clicked on the comp everything was there and functioning. (I was dragging the imported files into a comp I had already made) It’s always the little ‘gotcha’s’ that baffle me.
