HI there. I’ve got a couple of questions regarding importing footage shot in HD on a Panasonic HVX camera in to Final Cut Pro 6. I have the footage files (with the video files having an .mxf extension) along with the LASTCLIP.TXT saved on to a portable firewire drive. When I try to import the folder I get the following message: “File Error: 51 Files recognized, 0 access denied, 310 unknown.” When I continue I see that the only files that imported were the icon files. I’m guessing they’re the 51 files that were recognized.

What am I doing wrong? I have the files backed up on another computer as well.

Also, I am integrating this footage in to a video that is standard DV 720 x 480 shot at 24p. The HD footage is also 24p. Will it be merely a matter of scaling down the HD footage once I get it in?

All advice is welcome. I’m getting nervous…

Oh lordy. Do you have the original file structure in place, ie- not just the LASTCLIP.txt and the .MXF files? And how exactly are you importing them?

As to the DV/HD question, was the DV shot anamorphic, 24pA on something like the DVX-100? 24p on the DVX and 24p on the HVX are 2 different birds. More details are needed on all fronts 🙂

Chris…you are importing incorrectly. P2 footage needs to be imported using the LOG AND TRANSFER option in the FILE menu.

    Here is the workflow…video tutorial.
