    Hello all.

I’m trying to do some sound mixing in Vegas using a 6 channel MKV video.

A while ago I imported an MP4 file (a BDrip) that had all six channels splitted in sepparate tracks, so I could only use certain elements that I needed. I got another rip from something else in MKV format but since Vegas doesn’t recognize MKVs I’m, well, stuck. I tried extracting the H264 and DTS data with MKVMerge and compiling it again into an MP4 with MP4Box, but when I import it it doesn’t read audio. And crashes.

Any advice? I’m running Vegas 10.0 by the way.

You will have a hard time getting help on illeagle BR rips here on the Cow. On the other hand, I have a camera that captures 1080 60p with 5.1 surround sound in the .mts format. If I set my project settings, audio tab, to 5.1 and put one of my files on the timeline, 3 stereo tracks show up with the video track. I can seperate these stereo tracks into six mono tracks as well.

The 5.1 channel AC-3 you get with AVCHD and other similar (Panasonic TM700 at 60p) camcorders imports just dandy into Vegas and most other NLEs.

DTS, on the other hand, pretty much only exists on copy protected commercial media. The software for creating it is pretty expensive, and it’s generally not supported as an editable format on ANY NLE, as there is absolutely no need to do so for legit work.

Download EAC3to (free download) and convert the DTS to mono WAV files, then import to Vegas.

MP4 does not support Dolby Digital or DTS
